Product safety, labeling transparency, and regulatory awareness remain an important part of our sourcing approach. Global Swagger recognizes the requirements of California Proposition 65 (“Prop 65”), formally known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. Proposition 65 is a California regulation intended to promote clean drinking water and provide consumer awareness regarding exposure to chemicals identified by the State of California as potentially causing cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

Under Prop 65, the State of California maintains and updates a list of chemicals subject to warning requirements. This list includes a broad range of naturally occurring and synthetic substances and has expanded significantly since the law was first introduced. Proposition 65 is designed to help consumers make informed decisions regarding potential chemical exposure and also restricts the discharge of certain listed substances into drinking water sources.

Because many materials and consumer products may contain trace levels of regulated substances, Prop 65 warnings are commonly used as a disclosure and compliance measure and do not necessarily indicate that a product is unsafe. Where applicable, products may include Prop 65 warning language or labeling in accordance with customer requirements, supplier information, or applicable regulatory guidance.
